Wired and Wireless Networking

Wired Network: ie typically PCs cabled together on a network using a Switch.

Wireless Network: ie typically PCs in close proximity (less than 30ms apart) with no cabling joining them but rather equiped with Wireless network cards and possibly a Wireless Access Point, which more commonly in smaller installations is more than likely the ADSL Modem/Router as well.
